A Weekend in Fennville: Farm Food, Wine and Orchards Ten Minutes From Saugatuck

Fennville is a farm town about ten minutes inland from Saugatuck. It is small and friendly, and it is full of good food and wine. It is the kind of town where you can spend a whole weekend eating, drinking and wandering around farms.

If I were planning a slow weekend away, Fennville is where I would start. Here is my plan. Food, wine, fruit and a little time outside.

Why this blog? Hi, I'm Katie. My family and I run Mitten Rentals, and I have been hosting vacation rentals for more than ten years (Superhost since 2015). This is where I share the places I send our own guests along the West Michigan lakeshore.

How I Would Spend a Weekend in Fennville

1) Salt of the Earth

114 E Main St, FennvilleMap

Salt of the Earth does farm to table cooking and live music in Fennville. This is my pick for a Friday night dinner.

Book ahead and settle in for the evening.

It is a fun, relaxed spot to start the weekend, and a good way to get a feel for the town.

2) Fenn Valley Vineyards

6130 122nd Ave, FennvilleMap

Fenn Valley Vineyards is a family winery, open for tastings all year. Plan a Saturday afternoon tasting.

Pick up a bottle for the house while you are there.

It is an easy afternoon for a couple or a group of friends.

3) Crane's Orchards

Seasonal6054 124th Ave, FennvilleMap

Crane's Orchards has u-pick fruit, a fall corn maze and the famous Pie Pantry. It is seasonal, so check what is open before you go.

Pie for breakfast on a weekend away? I would allow it.

If you are visiting in fall, add the corn maze to your day.

4) Bella Vista Farm

Seasonal6017 124th Ave, FennvilleMap

Bella Vista Farm offers u-pick fruit in summer and pumpkins in fall. It sits just down the road from Crane's on 124th Ave, so it is easy to do both.

Grab a pumpkin for the porch.

Kids will want to find the biggest pumpkin in the patch.

5) Allegan State Game Area

4590 118th Ave, AlleganMap

The Allegan State Game Area has miles of wild public land for hiking and wildlife. Spend a morning out there and you will see why people come inland.

Bring good shoes and dress for the weather.

It is a great way to spend a quiet morning before heading back into town for lunch.

Good food, good wine, orchards and a lot of open space. Fennville is the kind of place you leave already planning the next trip.

Fennville River View puts you right in the middle of it all. Come stay with us.
